PROJECT: Theory of Architectural Programming

Housing children and young adults through community sharing, inclusive food distribution, and educational workshops.

Within a one mile radius of over ten schools, childcare centers, and trade schools and its programming is aimed at students and educators in the community. Through the food distribution service of the center, free meals are provided for all visitors in need. In addition to dining, study rooms and work equipment are provided for students in need of a quiet place to do school work or use the computer. Practicing sustainability, the facility also focuses on engaging visitors through educational lessons on nutrition, cooking, and gardening in conjunction with the open rooftop vegetable garden.
Private Programming:
Private, single user micro-units. Each unit has its own bedroom, closet, and bathroom.
Semi-Private Programming:
The micro apartment units have a balcony which overlooks a shared courtyard designated for residents only.
Shared Programming:
Open to all users of the center, the shared programming includes the shared common spaces. This includes the kitchen, dinning rooms, outdoor seating, bathrooms, study rooms, playground, and rooftop vegetable garden.
