Come with me to visit Bombay Beach Resort on the Salton Sea in Southern California. Ok, the first time I went to Bombay Beach, I was a bit of a pansy. But I always like to scope out a place and get a feel for the vibe before I'm comfortable with it.

Bombay Beach was originally supposed to be a resort town for the rich to escape away to.

The only problem is that the Salton Sea has super unstable water levels which resulted in flooding... not to mention the high saline levels which resulted in dead (sulfur smelling) marine life on the coast.

I did a lot of drive by shots from my car, but the biggest stand out was the "fallout shelter"/ bomb.
(Really loved the Open House Sotheby's sign too... oh the irony)

Bombay Beach is a strange mixture of art installations, stuck in time, off grid, and abandoned vibes in a nice little contained grid in the middle of nowhere.

From a mannequin yard to a TV screen graveyard... Bombay makes use of all materials.

There's a lot to see in Bombay Beach, and you need to drive through each contained block to experience it all.
